Only eight students completed the assignment below on Tuesday. You must complete it today or you will have a zero that you can not make up.

Go to Newsela and complete the assigned article and quiz about cloning. When you are finished, you can work on any missing work from any class.

If you do not have any unfinished work in any class, you can choose any brain pop or edpuzzle movie and quiz to complete for extra credit.

Make sure you put up all chairs, clean up any trash on the floor, and put all supplies away before you leave.

Wednesday 3/22

We're starting a STEM Career Research Project. You will choose a STEM career to research and you will create a presentation to share with the class.

Start by Choosing a career that you find interesting. You can check this document for some links to STEM Career information websites. 

Your choice is due at the end of the period today or I will assign one to you.

Monday 3/20

1. Breadboard Circuits Activity

Vocabulary: conductor, insulator, battery, wires, light bulb, switch, breadboarding, basic circuit, series circuit, parallel circuit, open circuit, closed circuit

Procedure:

• 1. Pass out supplies

• 2. Prepare bulb: Carefully twist and pull off the cut section of plastic insulation from each wire lead. Take the wires on each side of the bulb and gently twist the thin strands together to give it a “rope” like appearance. Repeat on the other side. Be careful not to poke your fingers with the wire strands.

• 3. Get your battery. Look at your battery and bulb/socket/wire. Which parts are conductors and which are insulators? Can you make the bulb light with just these two parts? 

• 4. Build a basic circuit activity (we'll do this together) (see written directions below)

Monday 3/13

1. Fill out this form to let me know if you have finished your choice project

2. Go to Tinkercad.com and click on the logo

• Enter the Invite Code: FZQ2J5KF in the Get Approval box
• Click on LEARN
• Scroll down to Tinkercad Projects (Beta) and click on "Browse all Projects"
• Complete the following lessons
• Introduction to Primitive Shapes
• Lets Learn Tinkercad
• Build a Tinkercad House
• When you have finished all three lessons, browse the projects and choose a simple (one piece) shape to create and print

Thursday 2/23-Friday 2/24

Choose one of the following tasks to complete today and tomorrow:

1. Students going to MESA Day work on your projects.

2. All students interested in doing the garden map project, go to BrainPop and do the following assignments:

• Watch the Ratios movie
• Take the Ratios quiz
• Watch the Scale Drawings movie
• Complete the Scale Drawings activity

3. If you chose a Rube Goldberg machine and movie project, continue or start on your research by looking up videos of Rube Goldberg machines, start planning your project and make a list of materials you need to collect.

4. If you are going to do the STEM Careers presentation, do some research on the websites below and start choosing a career to focus on.

• You will be graded on your responses and on the progress you make each week. Remember, you need to be working on a project and making some progress EVERY DAY! 

• If you have an idea of a different project (not a MESA project) that you would like to work on, let me know what your plans are and I will do my best to help you do it!

• Glider - 2 teams, 1-2 students per team
• Mousetrap Car - 1 team, 1-2 students per team
• Robotics Tug O' War - 2 teams, 2-4 students per team
• GI Tract - unlimited, 1-2 students per team
• Egg Xpress (egg drop) - 3 teams, 1-2 students per team
• Stick Together (bridge) - 1 team, 1-2 students per team
• Rube Goldberg (PILOT) - unlimited, 1-2 students per team
• Wright Stuff glider (PILOT) - unlimited, 2-4 students per team

You need to complete this Google Form by Friday.

Priority will be given to students who have turned in all their paperwork (Application/Enrollment Form, Contract, and Code of Behavior)
